Gardaí have confirmed that they are investigating the attempted abduction of a seven-year-old boy in Co. Wexford.

According to a report in the Irish Mirror, the frightening incident took place on Sunday evening, 3rd July, while the child was on his way home from a playground, in Maudlinton.

The boy was apparently approached by two men – one of whom was masked - and told “you’re coming with us”.

Thankfully, a group of children approached, and the little boy managed to escape by kicking one of the men.

After he got home and recounted the story, the little boy’s mother took to social media to share a warning to others in the area.

The Irish Mirror quoted her post, which read: “He described them as having brown skin, and two grown-up men…They had their big white van parked in Edenvale Avenue on Dolphin Road.”

A spokesperson for the gardaí has confirmed that they are now investigating the shocking incident.

When frightening stories such as these arise, it’s important to remind our children of stranger danger and what to do in an emergency situation.

Let’s hope the gardaí will be able to locate these men and stop them before anyone gets hurt.
