Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal to young people in Dunleer, Co Louth following the tragic death of 18-year-old Cameron Reilly at the weekend.

At a media conference this evening, detectives said a number of teenagers may have been taking drugs or drinking that night but that their focus isn't on this, instead it's trying to find out the circumstances in which the teen died, so that his family may know the truth.

Gardaí said they are still trying to locate Cameron's mobile phone, an iPhone 8 Plus with a black and green cover, which they believe is "key" to their investigation.

Leading the investigation, Superintendent Andrew Watters from Drogheda Garda Station, said their primary focus is "to establish for Cameron's family the truth as to what happened to Cameron" and are urging any teens in the area to come forward with information on what happened the night of Cameron's untimely death.

It is believed the teen died in "violent circumstances" and police say that other teens may have been present when this occurred - it is those that may have been present that the Gardai would particularly like to speak with, according to various reports. They are suggesting a row may have broken out, but this has not been confirmed.

Cameron, an only child, was last was last seen in the vicinity of Ardee Road in Dunleer in Co. Louth at about 12.30am on Saturday (and it is believed that he was out with other teens the night before), when his body was discovered only hours later at approximately 8am in Rivervale.
