Getting your kids to do chores might lead to their future success, says research

It's every parent's dream - the kids willingly clean up after themselves and offer to help with chores.

But, there's now research that shows there might be benefits for the little ones themselves if they pitch in.

Julie Lythcott-Haims, author of How to Raise an Adult believes that doing chores as a child will stand to you later in life and you might even be more successful.

She also bases her research on the Harvard Grant Study and it does make sense - kids who do chores learn responsibility.

Julie opened up about this in a TED Talk.

She said, ''The Harvard Grant Study [finds] that professional success in life...comes from having done chores as a kid. And the earlier you start it the better...If kids aren't doing the dishes, it means someone else is doing that for them. And so they're absolved of not only the work but of learning that work has to be done and that each one of us must contribute to the betterment of the whole."

She believes that by doing chores that kids gain a particular mindset.

Want your little ones to do well later in life?

Get them stuck into helping around the house...it's a win-win for everyone.
