Tragedy as two-year-old toddler, who received a heart transplant at one week, was among five killed as part of murder/suicide in Pennsylvania yesterday.

Little Willow Short, her two siblings (who have not been named) and her parents Megan and Mark all perished in the tragedy that police have described as a ‘domestic incident’.

According to an official Facebook post about the tragedy, the district attorney said that a ‘murder/suicide’ note had been left but did not reveal its contents.

It is believed the family were having financial difficulties due to the cost of medication required to prevent Willow’s body rejecting her new heart.

Police called to the house after Megan didn’t turn up at a pre-arranged lunch. After failing to make contact with any of the residents of the home, police forced entry and find the five bodies as well as the deceased body of the family dog. All had gunshot wounds and a handgun was found near one of the adults.

Little Willow was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and required a risky heart transplant when she was just one week old.

The family had been vocal about their little girl’s condition in a number of publication, telling the New York Times last year that they were finding it difficult to get certain medication for their little girl.

"You just feel like every month, you’re hoping that they don’t mess it up,” Megan told the publication.
