A six-year-old girl is reportedly in a critical condition after a supercar ploughed into a number of spectators at the Paqpaqli motor show in Malta.

At least 28 people were injured – four including the little girl critically - when British millionaire Paul Bailey’s Porsche 918 Spyder crashed at high speed on an unused airport taxiway in the Hal Farrug district.

The youngster and her mother are still being treated in hospital along with Bailey and 11 others, who are believed to have mostly sustained head, chest and fracture injuries.

Malta’s president Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, who had been in the car just a few hours before the incident, is said to be “traumatised and devastated” by the events that unfolded on Sunday.

Talking to the Times of Malta, an eyewitness describes how the back wheel clipped the grass before the car spun out of control right into the spectators and a static car exhibition.

“Many people were hit, there was chaos and screams,” they added.

We’re wishing all those injured a speedy recovery.
