If you were a fan of The Smurfs as a child and would like to introduce your children to their wonderful blue world then there is one event this year, that you just cannot miss.

Ireland will be joining 12 other countries across the world in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most people dressed as Smurfs and you and your family are invited to participate.

On Saturday 25th June the world will be painted blue with attempts talking place in all 12 countries concurrently. The minimum number of Smurfs that are required in Ireland are 250.

The world record attempt coincides with the release of The Smurfs 3D this summer which opens in cinemas across Ireland on August 10th.  The event will be taking place at The Pembroke District of Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin at 5pm sharp and the candles of a blue birthday cake will be blown out by a child also dressed as a Smurf. The Jack & Jill Children's Foundation is the nominated charity for this record attempt.

Participants will be given an outfit to wear including a Smurf hat, t-shirt and trousers which they can keep afterwards. There will be painters with blue body paint at the event to paint faces and arms blue to ensure the strict criteria for the attempt are adhered to. There will be loads of goodies up for grabs on the day to make the afternoon extra fun including Smarties hampers, The Surfs 3D goodies and a 42inch Sony flat screen television.

This will be a day to remember so bring the kids along and get involved. If you are interested in taking part then visit www.smurfsdayireland.ie for information and to register.
