It looks like we might have to bid farewell to the sunglasses and say hello to our umbrellas again as heavy rainfall has been forecasted for this week.

Unfortunately, the glorious sunny weather is set to depart in the coming days with rainfall predicted for most of Ireland.

According to Met Éireann, Ulster and Connacht will be the first to experience heavy rain on Monday. It will then make its way to the south east of Ireland.

Tuesday is said to be a reasonably good day with sunny spells, but the rain won’t be staying away for too long, with forecasters expecting it to return by Wednesday.

The West of Ireland will experience rainfall in the afternoon.

The rain is set to worsen overnight and will continue into Thursday morning.

We’ll experience a spot of sunshine on Friday morning, but the rain is sticking around for quite some time.

We may be waving goodbye to the sunshine, but the warm temperatures will stick around for the week with highs of 24 degrees forecasted.

You may need to whip out the umbrella again, but luckily we won’t be digging out our jumpers and hats just yet.
