Grief evolves: Jeff Brazier on how his kids deal with the loss of their mum

Jeff Brazier has spoke out about how his kids have struggled to cope with the death of their mother Jade Goody.

Jade passed away nine years ago from cervical cancer when her sons with both young.

Now they are teenagers - Bobby is fifteen and Freddie is fourteen - and dealing with their grief has not been easy.

Jeff told the Daily Star Sunday that, “Grief evolves. It can be dependent on the age of the children.''

He continued, ''You might think 10 years later it’s surely going to be calming down a bit and they’ll be used to it and it’ll cause them less pain. But the truth is they’re going through teenage changes.”

He revealed that he would have a “monthly discussion” about Jade with his sons, but the boys now shy away from talking about what happened.

Jeff said, ''You know you love your children. But what happens when the unknown starts to present itself? What do you do when they’re crying for their mum? What do you do when they’re being naughty because they’re upset about losing their mum?”

Jeff has gone on to train as grief counsellor and married Kate Dwyer in September - of course, Bobby and Freddie were his best men.

He says that PR director Kate who, as Jeff says ''has brought so much stability to my life.''

He said, ''We won at becoming a family. Before it was just three boys rattling around in a house on our own, trying to get through life. Then Kate came along and worked so hard at making us complete.''

He added, ''She hasn't just completed one person, she's completed a family and given three boys a real sense of belonging.”

It brings a tear to your eye - we're Jade would be so proud of what amazing young men her son's have grown into.
