A woman has spoken of her shock and disappointment at being refused a refund on the honeymoon she had to cancel on account of her father’s death.

June Robbins, from Dublin, revealed that she and her husband have spent the past year trying to get €5,500 back from Multitrip.com, to no avail.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1’s Liveline, the 34-year-old told host Joe Duffy that her father had been battling lung cancer up to her nuptials, last August.

Just four days after walking her down the aisle, June’s father Tony passed away.

Devastated and seeking comfort with her family, June explained how she and new husband Vinny cancelled their ‘dream’ trip to the Maldives.

However, despite having travel insurance, the newlyweds were left shocked when they were refused a refund. They have spent the 12 months since desperately trying to get their money back.

According to the Irish Mirror, June said: “Apparently you have to state if any of your close relatives have a life-threatening prognosis, but we thought he was cancer-free.”

Having successfully beaten cancer a year previous, June’s dad Tony didn’t inform his family that the disease had returned.

After going public with her story, June clarified: “Whether or not we get our money back is irrelevant. We just want people to know that you are not getting everything you think with insurance.”

Let’s hope June and Vinny can get some satisfaction after their ordeal.
