Mother's Day can be a sad time for families who have lost a loved one, and one mum has taken the opportunity to share her story.

Heartbroken Lucy Herd has become an internet sensation after recording a moving Mother’s Day message in memory of her son’s death, and urging for change.

Lucy lost her toddler son Jack in a tragic drowning accident in 2010, after he fell into a garden pond.

Shockingly, Berkshire woman Lucy discovered that, in the depths of their grief, her then-husband could take just three days paid leave from work, to mourn his child.

Since then, Lucy has been campaigning to get the government to introduce a new law giving grieving parents four weeks paid time off.

In a moving but devastating video that Lucy shared to YouTube this weekend, she gives an insight into her grief, her campaign and, saddest of all, her life without her son.

She is now calling on senior members of government to sit up and take notice of her campaign, and to bring equality to all parents through what is often the most difficult time in their lives.

Watch her inspiring and heartbreaking video below.
