What's this now? Yet another study carried out to completely freak us out beyond belief, that's what.

Research has been carried out into the amount of pee in swimming pools, and the results are so GROSS.

The researchers tested the amount of urine in water, and took over 250 samples from 31 pools to achieve a varied result.

The results showed that one 830,000-litre pool - which is about one-third of an Olympic-sized pool - had 75 litres of pee, while smaller pools had 30 litres.

Urine is actually sterile, but its presence in pools is a serious public health concern, because when urine mixes with chemicals it can be harmful to swimmers.

The study measured pool water for the substance acesulfame-K (ACE), which is an artificial sweetener that passes through the body completely and is found in urine.

The results found levels of ACE in the pools that were up to 570-times greater than in ordinary tap water.

So, that's nasty.
