They shocked everyone when they announced that, after 13 years, their marriage had come to an end, and it seems that not every aspect of singer Gwen Stefani’s split from Gavin Rossdale has been amicable.

The Don’t Speak singer spoke candidly about the breakdown of her marriage during an interview with the New York Times, following speculation that Rossdale had an affair with their kids’ nanny.

Gwen and Gavin are parents to nine-year-old Kingston, seven-year-old Zuma, and two-year-old Apollo, and the music stars now share joint custody of the three boys.

However, when asked how she feels about having to split time spent with the boys 50-50, the 46-year-old revealed that she wasn’t so pleased with the arrangement.

“It’s, like, the most unjust, unbelievable system,” she told the publication.

She also spoke candidly about the emotional trauma that followed the end of her marriage, adding: “[I thought] I am dead, actually. How do I save myself? What am I going to do? How do I not go down like this?”

Ultimately, Gwen sought comfort in her music, and while she still feels the sting of her failed marriage, her new romance with Blake Shelton is helping her through the difficult time.

“I’m not going to say I’m not still picking up the pieces and every day isn’t a challenge. I’m still in shock. But it’s an awesome time,” she said.
