What you need
  • A vase
  • Blank paper (make sure it's big enough to cover the vase)
  • Crayons
  • Glue
  • Glitter
  • Twigs
  • Decorative string
  • Sticky tape
  • Selection of wild flowers / shrubs / berries / wild foliage – whatever you can find in the garden or growing wild

How do make your Halloween flower vase
  1. Get the kids to decorate the paper using crayons and markers, keep it to a Halloween theme
  2. Once that is done, get the kids to add glue in spots on the paper and to sprinkle glitter all over it
  3. Leave the paper to dry, and take the kids out to the garden or park to collect whatever they can find for your flower display. If this isn't possible, just buy a cheap bunch of mixed flowers and that will work equally as well.
  4. Get the kids to design how the flowers should look in the vase and tie them together in a loose bunch
  5. Take the decorated paper and tie it around the vase from the bottom up and secure it in place with sticky tape
  6. Tie the decorative string around the outside of the paper, towards the top of the vase, to hold in place and to add to the look
  7. Add water to the vase and put the flowers in place, cut the string from the tied flowers so that they fall naturally in place
