After an incredible, perilous mission over the last number of days, we got an amazing end to what many deemed impossible.

It has been confirmed today by Thai Navy Seals that all 12 members of the schoolboy Thai soccer team and their coach have been successfully rescued from a cave where they have been trapped for the past two weeks.

A third rescue operation to bring out the remaining boys and their football coach got underway this morning after two previous operations held at the weekend and on Monday.

According to reports, eight boys were brought out on stretchers over the first two days - four on Sunday and four on Monday.

Chiang Rai governor Narongsak Osatanakorn said the rescue mission began at 10.08am local time and involved 19 divers, a medic and three seals in the cave who exited when the mission was completed.

The first eight boys rescued were described as "generally healthy" and emerged "happy and smiling" despite their ordeal and two with a possible lung infection.

The first four, aged between 12 and 16 are able to eat normal food, say reports.

According to RTE, all boys are still being quarantined from their parents because of the risk of infection.

They will reportedly be kept in hospital for a week to undergo tests, officials said.

The boys between aged between 11 and 16, went missing with their 25-year-old coach after soccer practice on June 23rd and a massive rescue operation has been put in place to get them out to safety. The boys were discovered by British divers Richard Stanton and John Volanthen.

Well done to all for an incredible effort.
