Medics in Kazakhstan have issued an important warning to people all over the world this week: do not leave your babies unattended with phone chargers.

The message comes just days after a baby girl was electrocuted while ‘playing’ with a mobile phone charger in her home, tragically dying from her injuries.

The unnamed tot’s mum is said to have been asleep when her daughter got her hands on the phone charger.

Reports state that the baby ‘put the charger in her mouth and started chewing it’. The plastic around the wire became worn down and exposed, electrocuting the tot while her mother slept.

The mother is said to have awoken to find her daughter silent and not breathing, with no pulse. She immediately rushed her to hospital where, sadly, she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Staff at the hospital, in Aktau, took to social media to release photos of the child’s injuries: severe burns along her hand and arm.

We’re thinking of the family at the centre of this report, and our prayers are with them today.
