We have some particularly harrowing news to share this afternoon, after a three-year-old child was shot and killed in an apparent ‘road rage’ incident, in the US.

According to CNN, the unnamed child was in the car with his grandmother – who had taken him out for some Christmas shopping – when the incident occurred, yesterday.

A rep from Arkansas’ Little Rock Police force told local media that the grandmother’s car was stalled at a stop sign, when the motorist behind her grew angry. Apparently, the woman’s car was not moving fast enough.

After beeping at the grandmother’s car, the motorist got out and approached her vehicle. The unidentified motorist then fired shots into the car, with at least one bullet reportedly hitting the little boy.

The terrified grandmother is said to have driven to the safety of a nearby department store car park before calling the police.

The little boy was rushed to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, but sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police are treating the crime as a ‘road rage’ incident, and they have called on members of the public to help them in locating the motorist responsible for this appalling act.
