Thousands paid their respects to five-year-old Ben Farrell in Croke Park yesterday as they applauded the brave Finglas boy known lovingly as Batman Ben.

Ben sadly died two weeks ago after battling with stage IV Wilms tumour.

Ben endured 19 rounds of radiotherapy before a number of fundraising campaigns helped raised €260,000 to take the youngster to the Children’s Hospital in Washington to undergo clinical trials.

Following four weeks in Michigan, Ben arrived home where he passed away surrounded by family and friends two weeks ago.

Not only did the tens of thousands of spectators at yesterday’s All-Ireland Football semi-final pay tribute to Batman Ben but so too did Dublin footballer, Philly McMahon.

After their historic victory over Kerry, the Dublin star took to social media to thank Ben who was “watching over us”.
