31-year-old Pamela Ewart was almost eight months pregnant when she began suffering from chronic migraines at her home in Airdrie, Lanarkshire.

Tragically, after being admitted to hospital on Sunday, Pamela passed away on Monday. Thankfully, however, doctors managed to save her unborn daughter, Poppy.

The little girl was delivered early but is said to be doing well; she spent her first night with her dad, Alastair Robertson, by her side.

“She is doing fine and the doctors seem to be happy with her. But the next 48 hours will be critical for her,” Alastair's father George told the Daily Record.

"We haven’t a clue what happened to Pamela yet," said George Robertson.

“Our heads are full of mince just now. We need a few days for this to sink in.”

Tributes to the deceased mum flooded social media in the wake of her death, and crowdfunding page has been set up to help the family with funeral costs.

Postmortem results are under way.
