As if their ‘day job’ wasn’t amazing enough, there are some police officers out there whose care for their community goes beyond the call of duty – and troopers Wood and Graham of the West Virginia State Police are two such men.

They have touched hearts around the world this week, after photos of them caring for a poorly baby found in the backseat of a drunk driver’s car emerged online.

In an interview with local media, trooper B.R. Wood revealed what happened on Tuesday evening.

“We made an arrest for DUI. The one-year-old baby boy was in the backseat covered in vomit. The vehicle was disabled, so we brought the baby boy back to the detachment,” he explained.

Photos of the baby’s time spent with the doting officers have since been shared online, and show the troopers bathing the tot in their station’s kitchen sink, wrapping him in a towel, and then minding him until Child Protective Services arrive on the scene.

The tot is now said to be ‘safe’ and in the care of a legal guardian.

The driver, meanwhile, has been charged with driving under the influence with a minor, and faces between two days and 12 months in jail. They will also be fined between $200 and $1000.

We’re wishing this adorable little tot all the best.
