Ahead of his third Wimbledon final, Andy Murray spoke about how fatherhood had changed his focus when it comes to his tennis career.

Speaking with BBC Sports, Andy spoke about life after he welcomed his first child with his wife Kim Murray.

"For this first time ever, tennis is probably more of a distraction."

The world number two spoke about how his priorities have changed since becoming a dad to daughter, Sophia.

"Experiencing the Wimbledon fortnight as a parent has been different because now I have a family to get home to.

"For the first time ever, tennis is probably more of a distraction from my home life than the other way around.

"Beforehand, in the build-up to a Slam final, I'd always be thinking about that match. I don't feel like that just now – I'm just looking forward to the next time I see Sophia and Kim."

Today, Andy will take to centre court to fight for his second Wimbleton title but it is his daughter's encouragement that he cares about more.

"Sophia's already watched a bit of tennis with Kim at home over these last couple of weeks and maybe when she's older she'll want to come and see me play

"I would like that; it would be nice for me in a selfish way. I'm sure she won't be that interested but it gives me a little bit of extra motivation to keep going when I get a bit older."

Despite the fact that Sophia has yet to sit courtside for one of Andy's matches, Andy's grandmother told the Evening Standard that she has already made a difference.

"I think she is his lucky charm...and she's a beautiful one!"
