In light of some very worrying reports, tour operator, Thomas Cook, has decided to relocate a number of concerned holidaymakers or provide them with flights home from the Anastasia Beach Complex near Protaras, Cyprus.

According to reports, a number of British and Irish families have been moved from a hotel in Cyprus after reports emerged that a gang was targeting children before making abduction attempts.

Commenting on the worrying incident which took place on Tuesday evening, a hotel guest holidaying with his children, said: “This couple were leading the two young children towards a waiting car, another person had a third child up against a wall ready to go, too.”

Paying tribute to the individual who interrupted the attempt, Greg Letford went on to say: “Someone spotted what they were up to and stopped them. If he hadn’t been there those kids would have gone.”

Suspicions were raised recently when holidaymakers noticed a group of ten individuals filming the hotel in the days leading up to the abduction attempts.

Following the frightening incident, a man and a woman were accosted by hotel staff before being promptly handed over to police while the third individual escaped police arrest.

Commenting on the case, a spokeswoman for Thomas Cook said: “The safety and welfare of our customers is always our first priority and upon hearing about the incident, we immediately deployed our experienced resort team to the property to provide those customers in residence with individual support.”

Eager to placate the public’s fears, the spokeswoman went on to say: “While incidents of this nature are extremely rare, we would like to reassure all customers that this is being taken incredibly seriously and we are continuing to work closely with the local authorities and the hotel as the investigation continues.”
