The man in question, 53-year-old David Swift of Sparkhill in Birmingham, previously failed to appear in court to answer charges of downloading child porn.
He is described as white, 5ft 9in tall, with a Scottish accent.
According to reports, British police have been trying to track Swift down since December of last year, going on to issue an appeal for information in March. They now believe that Swift has been hiding out in north Dublin, and they are turning their particular attention to the Swords area of the city.
Detective Con Lindsey Seeley, of the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team said this weekend: “We are led to believe that he may have connections to the Swords area of Ireland…However, we cannot be certain he is in Ireland and I would appeal to anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to contact their local police as soon as possible.”
