It’s often said that we never truly know what is going on in another person’s life, but how often do we let this lead us in our exchanges with those we meet each day?

The importance of empathy and consideration of others’ feelings has been raised today, after an incredibly moving video went viral online.

Paige Yore took to Facebook to share the heartwrenching details of her experience in a supermarket last week, which moved her to tears.

In the video, she recalls witnessing a young male cashier being verbally abused by a customer for ‘sucking at customer service’. After launching a tirade of insults at this young man, the woman 'really kicked off' when her card was declined.

While Paige tried to diffuse the situation, assuring her fellow customer that this young man was just having a ‘bad day’, she was shell-shocked when he broke down and embraced her.

As it turned out, this poor young teen’s mother had committed suicide that very morning, but he claimed he had to work in order to pay his bills and rent.

While the angry customer was left standing there mortified, Paige emptied out her purse and gave the teen an important message: hang in there.

Sharing the video online, Paige urged everyone to be sensitive and kind to others around them: “No matter what…don’t jump down their throat, because they are fighting a battle that none of us know about.”

Check out Paige’s video in full below; it can give everyone food for thought today.

My Friday experience..... This will hit home.... You never know who's fighting what battle. Watch what you say.....
