Men who are due to become fathers are to receive an entire year's paternity leave on full pay if they are fortunate enough to work for Virgin tycoon, Richard Branson.

According to the policy's stipulations, Virgin employees will have been required to work for the company for four years to qualify for 100% pay while those with two years' service will be entitled to 25%.

Commenting on the move, which also applies to adoptive parents, the 64-year-old billionaire businessman said: "I’m delighted that we can offer this support to our staff so that they can enjoy parental leave to the full."

Drawing on his own experience, he went on to say: "As a father and now a proud granddad to three wonderful grandchildren, I know how magical the first year of a child’s life is but also how much hard work it takes."

The world-famous businessman simply considers the policy an intelligent business move saying: "I believe if you take care of your employees they will take care of your business. It is always interesting to note how often the adjectives ‘smart’ and ‘simple’ describe the cleverest of innovations – well, this is surely one of the simplest and smartest initiatives I have heard of in a long time."
