The internet is full of stories of wonderful coincidences, and if this report is anything to go by, it was the virtual world that brought two long-lost sisters together.

Two British women have spoken of their disbelief and joy and finding out that they were long-lost sisters – after spending years playing online bingo together.

According to Gazette Live, Elaine Walker and Jackie Green spent the best part of eight years chatting online and playing with each other, all the while completely oblivious to the fact that they were biological sisters.

Elaine, 59, told the publication how she had spent her childhood with her adoptive parents on Teesside, after her mother ‘abandoned’ her. Meanwhile Jackie, 65, had grown up in Croydon with the girls’ biological father.

It was only at the age of 25 that Elaine found out she had an older sister, and she spent the next 30 years searching for her. While she didn’t catch a whiff of information about Jackie, Elaine did find out that she had yet another sister as well as two brothers.

In the end, it was heir-hunting organisation Finders that provided the key to Elaine unlocking the mystery of Jackie. The group were able to identify and pass on Jackie’s name, and a Facebook search then uncovered a major coincidence – the two women shared a number of mutual friends through their online gaming.

Elaine got in touch with Jackie, and all of the puzzle pieces were put together.

Speaking to the Gazette, Jackie revealed that the pair have a ‘strong’ bond now and are enjoying catching up on lost time together.

“It’s unbelievable how we were speaking for all those years and had no idea we were related. Me and Elaine are so close, I just wish I had known about her years ago,” she said.

What an incredible turn of events!
