It’s innocent drink’s second year partnering with Grown Forest, who are helping them on their global mission to protect and preserve 2 million hectares of land by 2025 (that’s almost half of Ireland). Don’t worry, they won’t go into the nitty gritty scientific details, innocent are just hoping to get lots of families involved in helping rewild however they can at home – with the help of their little planters.
What’s all this rewilding business, you ask? Rewilding is all about restoring and protecting natural areas by planting on and looking after the land, so we can keep boasting about our beautiful green isle. Doing so locks up pesky carbon, helping biodiversity in the area and improving our health and wellbeing at the same time. And that’s not all they’re doing about carbon. All of innocent’s orange juices are now carbon neutral and they’re working on making every single drink fully carbon neutral by 2025.
In Ireland, innocent has worked with Grown Forest to get over 10,000 native Irish trees into the ground, and they’re not stopping there. This June, innocent have got lots of help from some little planters at their brand-new innocent woods in Co. Longford, where some local schools visited and learned about lots of rewilding stuff as well as helping get even more of those native Irish trees into our soil. With over 10,000 trees planted, right now it would take a butterfly about half an hour to journey through their woods and take a look at their trees.
If you’re as passionate about rewilding as innocent are, why not give it a go at home? There’s lots of fun ways to get started. No need to throw that old watering can out, chuck in some soil and wildflower seeds for the bees to enjoy in the summertime. Only have a windowsill to work with? There’s lots of native Irish plants that will bloom there (as long as they get a drink every now and then). Happy Rewilding.
