A photo of a husband and wife saying their final goodbye hours before her death has touched hearts all over the world this week.
Uploaded to the social networking site by the user ‘RealLiveGirl’, the photo shows an elderly couple reaching out to one another from their respective hospital beds.
“My Grandma, 96, with my Grandpa, 100, hours before her death this weekend. 77 years of marriage,” explained the Redditor.
Needless to say, the Reddit community was completely moved by the image, and the comment thread underneath was filled with words of support and admiration both for the couple and their family.
“Sorry for your loss. But what a ‘great’ way to go. Holding hands with your spouse, in a warm bed, presumably with loved ones around. Sympathy to your grandfather who lost his lifelong wife,” wrote one user.
Others, meanwhile, could not get over just how long the couple’s marriage lasted.
“It’s crazy to think they’ve had that much time together, when some of us won’t even live that long,” wrote another.
