An Irish mum won a Christmas hamper from Cork’s Red FM, but when it arrived this morning she got a VERY unexpected surprise, and it wasn’t a turkey.

In fact, when Noreen O’Meara from Coppeen in Cork opened the huge gift she was bowled over when her daughter Eve jumped out.

Talking to the Irish Examiner, Red FM’s Ruth Fuller said Eve contacted the station a few months ago telling them she wanted to surprise her mum but wasn’t sure how.

We agreed we would ring her mum and tell her she was a finalist in ‘Mother of the Year’ on the KC Show. We brought her on air and, of course, she won. The prize was a hamper that we would drop down to Coppeen," she went on to explain to the publication.

Eve had told her mother that she couldn’t afford to fly home from Sydney for Christmas, so when she jumper out of the box it was no surprise that poor Noreen was left “gobsmacked”.

"I was expecting what Neil said, a turkey and chocolate, and all I was thinking was that I had a turkey from my neighbour already and what was I going to do with two turkeys?” she said in typical Irish Mammy fashion!
