A family are in mourning this week, following the sudden death of a 30-year-old Irish woman on the way home from a ‘dream’ holiday with her fiancé.

According to the Irish Mirror, Majella Donoghue – from Belmullet, Co. Mayo – fell suddenly ill on a flight from Cape Town, South Africa to London, Heathrow on Sunday.

Majella had been on holiday with her fiancé, Barry Doherty, with the couple becoming engaged during their ‘dream’ trip away.

The young woman is said to have been tended to during the flight by cabin crew, before being rushed to hospital as soon as the airplane touched down.

Tragically, Majella died in hospital, surrounded by her fiancé and family, who had flown over from Ireland to be at her bedside.

While an autopsy is said to have been carried out, the cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Tributes have begun to pour in for ‘vivcacious’ and ‘kind-hearted’ Majella, who worked as a Talent Acquisition Specialist at Boston Scientific, in Galway.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Majella’s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
