For many, the white picket fence around a perfectly styled family home is the ultimate DREAM. But, unfortunately, there is one - small - thing that stands between you and fulfilling your fantasy: a mortgage deposit.

Getting a house is not as easy as walking into the bank and simply demanding they give you money (sadly); you have to have a significant lump sum behind you before you can even approach them.

Unfortunately, however, getting that much-needed deposit requires a lot of saving. Frustrating, sacrificing saving that can leave you feeling deflated and questioning why you decided to go down this road in the first place...

If you are currently in the middle of a mammoth save, the following nine thoughts are bound to have gone through your head at least once... (today):

1. "Renting is not that bad"

If the dishwasher breaks down the only thing you need to do to get it fixed is ring the landlord - simples.

2. "Why are the banks trying to RUIN my life?"

One thoughts that usually passes through your head as you scroll through your friend's latest Instagram account which is FULL of fancy, schmancy trips abroad.

3. "I’ve been saving FOREVER"

Well, you probably have to be fair!

4. "Imagine the holiday we could go on with that deposit..."

Sun, sea, sand - one day, People, one day.

5. "I don't even care anymore"

Can't. Go. On. Saving.

6. "I want that house NOW"

Like right now.

7. "I'm paying enough rent to DESERVE a mortgage"

Sure, aren't we all?!

8. "How can anyone get a foot on the ladder? HOW?!"

Yes, saving sucks.

9. "Why didn't we start saving earlier?!"

Sure, who's thinking 'mortgage' in their teen years?
