If you've noticed that your child's father is all too eager to spend time with your brood when they're settled in front of the television, then you're certainly not alone!

According to a survey carried out on 7,000 parents by family-favourite Netflix, 85% of dads use this time to take a walk down memory lane and reacquaint themselves with the cartoons they enjoyed as children.

It seems men are an incredibly nostalgic bunch, with 75% admitting that watching cartoons with their child makes them feel young again while a vast number reveal they feel a responsibility to introduce their children to past shows in an effort to keep pop culture alive.

Unsurprised by the responses, Erik Barmack, Vice President of global content acquisition at Netflix, said: "The Saturday morning cartoon tradition we grew up with lives on with Netflix, but now families can choose when they want to watch those nostalgic shows together."

Aware that parents are keen to show their children the programmes which entertained them as youngsters, the company intend to continue mixing classics with new releases.

Commenting on the plan, Mr. Barmack goes on to say: "From Transformers and The Smurfs to My Little Pony and Pokémon, dads are passing down some of the greats already and we’ll keep adding more classics like new versions of Danger Mouse and Care Bears."

It sounds like Saturday mornings are about to get even more fun!
