Mum-of-five Julie Brennan faces homelessness five days after she is due to give birth, and is appealing her eviction notice.

32-year-old Julie from Abbeyleix, Co. Laois, who appeared on TV3’s Evicted at Christmas in December, told the Irish Mirror that her situation is now worse.

“I got a letter last week to say I’ve got 56 days notice and I’m due a baby in 40 days. It’s terrible. There are so many tenants in the same situation. There is nowhere to rent in Abbeyleix.”

Julie is due to give birth via Caesarean on February 28th and must move out by March 4th.

Explaining that she has been looking “all day every day” she says the prices are above her budget.

Admitting that she doesn’t have the energy for it, the expectant mum, whose husband works in road maintenance at Laois County Council, puts it down to greed.

“I don’t see why I should have to move my kids again when this is a perfectly good house. We’re paying €500 a month and have never been late with the rent. It’s boiling down to greed. It’s understood the house is being repossessed by the Bank of Ireland.”

The family, who moved into the three-bedroom house with their kids in June 204, are not eligible to go on the housing list and Julie doesn’t qualify for rent allowance.

“I haven’t got the energy for it. I’ve got children now who are getting sick with stress and worry and I’ve also got bronchitis.”
