It may be officially springtime, but we are in for some of the worst weather of the year so far this weekend.

Wrap the little ones up warm, because we are in for ice, floods and even SNOW in some areas.

Today is set to remain cold according to Met Eireann, with highest temperatures of six to nine degrees.

Connacht and Munster can expect heavy rain and spot flooding in places. Meanwhile, showers of sleet and snow are expected in Ulster.

Overnight temperatures will plunge to zero in places.

Friday will be cold and cloudy, with heavy rain in all areas during the day.

If you're heading out at the weekend, layer up, because we are expecting a chilly Saturday and Sunday.

Snow is likely also in places, with some heavy falls on higher ground.

It's set to be a brisk weekend, with daytime temperatures ranging from four to nine degrees.

Luckily, the cold snap is set to break next week and we can expect milder weather.

Stay cosy, mums!
