Just two hours before he was due on stage in Middleton, comedian Jason Mansford was forced to cancel his gig after his daughter suffered a head injury.

In a post uploaded to Facebook, fans were told that Jason, 35, had to attend a ‘family emergency’ and was unable to perform.

Fans, while disappointed that the show was cancelled, completely understood that family will always come first, and many were quick to wish Jason and his family well.

“We have tickets for tonight, sad to be missing the show, but really doesn't matter in the scheme of things. I hope everything is okay with your family,” wrote one. While another said:

“Hopefully whatever it is will turn out ok in the end. Hard when your life revolves around jo public. Better to let them down than family anytime.”

Hours after the original post went up, Jason himself took to the social media page to explain exactly what the ‘family emergency’ was.

“Really sorry to the people who were coming to my gig in Middleton tonight, my daughter had a nasty head injury at her Aerial Dance class and I had to rush her to A&E,” he wrote.

“I didn't know how serious it was or how long it would take, or even if I'd be in the right headspace to do a gig so I thought it was best to just cancel.”

Thankfully, his daughter is said to be “totally fine”, and Jason took the time to praise staff at Stepping Hill where she was treated.
