We have been itching for Strictly Come Dancing to return to our screens and we finally have an official date for season 16.

We will be reunited with judges- Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Shirley Ballas- in a matter of weeks.

The BBC confirmed the Strictly red carpet event is to take place on August 27, 2018. This means we have less than a month to find out who this year’s celebrities are.

The grand reveal happens at the red carpet show, which will be followed by a launch show.

The launch show will be pre-recorded on Friday, August 31 and is rumoured to air on Saturday, September 1.

The rumour mill has been buzzing with speculation about this year’s potential lineup, with former EastEnders star Samantha Womack being the latest celebrity rumoured to be taken part.

One group of celebrities you can forget about seeing taking part in the upcoming season are reality stars.

It is understood producers have banned reality stars from participating in the show. We won’t be seeing Gemma Collins, Amy Childs or Jamie Laing strutting their stuff on the dance floor this year.

Apparently, producers felt that reality stars were using the show as a means to boost their celebrity status.

“Bosses are now fed up of hearing the same people bandying around their own names just to shift a few copies of some weight-loss DVD. In light of this, they’ve put in place their own reality star ban to stop them from cashing in on the show,” a source said.

Mary Berry, BBC presenter Dan Walker, Cheryl are also rumoured to be taking part in season 16, but you’ll have to wait until August 27 to find out the official line-up.
