Many working mums found themselves irate after English model Kelly Brook made comments about what she deemed 'professional' for mothers to discuss in the workplace.

The 38-year-old said on Loose Women:

"'I have a pet hate, and I don't have children so I don't always understand, but I do work with some women that if they can't make an appointment or can't do something, or there is a deadline and some people will always say 'oh it's because I have to wash the baby' or 'feed the kids' or 'I've got to do the school run'.

"Others have kids and you never even hear about the kids. They are very professional and I love that."

Kelly herself does not have any children. She sadly suffered a miscarriage back in 2011. Earlier this year on Loose Women she said, "It's not all about children, you can be happy without children."

On this most recent appearance, the TV presenter further explained her 'pet hate' about women discussing their kids while on the job:

"I just think women shouldn't use kids as an excuse not to do their job properly. I think it's nobody's business. If you can't meet the demands of your job, don't blame your kids."

The One Big Happy actress does feel for parents whose children fall ill, but said, "I have just been in situations with parents, where they have got to do the school run or something.

"They know they have to do the school run, they know they have to put the kids to bed, so wouldn't you figure your career out around those things?"

A number of mothers who heard this criticism felt compelled to speak out against Kelly's comments.

"Kelly Brook needs to stop talking. Unless you are a working mum, you have NO idea the sacrifices we make for our children and how incredibly hard we work at our careers," one Twitter user wrote.

"Going to step in on the Kelly Brook Loose Women interview. As a lone parent, working full time, I can’t thank my work enough for the effort they’ve put in to accommodate me and my son," one mum tweeted.

"The help I’ve had with appointments, sleepless nights, school meetings, even more appointments over the two and a half years I’ve been with the company, has taken so much stress off my back."

"I used to think like Kelly Brook about parents organising their lives around children, but the reality is so much harder than you ever imagine," another shared, "16 plus weeks holiday a year, illnesses, sports days, prize giving, school shows, etc. You WANT to be there for most of that."

One man pointed out, "It’s not just women who have to juggle kids and careers! I appreciate you’re on the Loose Women show, but men do it too!"
