Thank you so much Mummypages and La Roche-Posay for letting me test this brilliant new product!
I have used La Roche-Posay product before (cant remember off hand which one) so was aware it is suitable for the most sensitive skin and that dermatologist recommend it.
This Cicaplast Baume B5 is just brilliant so easy to apply didnt make my hands greasy after,it absorbed so quickly, my skin felt so nurished and smooth after using it. It is so good to have a cream ParabenFree, Fragrance Free and Lanolin Free and of course white mark free.
I have been using the Cicaplast Baume on very itchy, dry irritated patches thoughout my body and immeditatley after applying it my skin cooled down and felt so smooth and it cleared up the irritation on face and quickly repairing my legs!
The 100ml tube was very easy to open and the flip top is great when you can only use one hand to open it, but I would love if it came in a smaller size for the handbag!
Until this trial I was not aware you can only purchase La Roche Posay products in the pharmacy.
Thank you again Mummypages and La Roche-Posay for choosing me to test this brilliant product I will certainly be purchasing this in the future and I hope my feedback is help to all involved!
I had never used La Roche- Posay b4, not sure that I'd even heard of the brand, so wasn't aware that dermatologists recommend it. I got my free tube of Cicaplast Baume B5 in the post + used it on my 7mth old at the next nappy change-not 2 long waiting 4 dat!! I found it really easy to apply + it absorbs quickly. He had nappy rash from teething at the time + while I didn't find it got rid of it any better than bepanthen, that I'd previously been using, it definitely didn't get any worse + his skin felt really soft. Both my lads have dry skin + found it did keep it well moisturised. My own hands are cracked + really sore at the mo from washing bottles etc + think allergic reaction 2 decorating paint etc, so I used it on them 2 + have 2 say, it did help them, cracks slowly healed + skin less dry + chaffed. Not sure of the price of this cream so can't comment on whether its value 4 money + therefore whether I'd buy it myself. Also, the accompanying leaflet seemed 2 have every language but english so dat not g8. But overall, a good cream that you could use on any skin 4 almost anything.
I have heard of La Roche-Posay before and was recommended them by the eczema team in Tallaght hospital for one of my daughters.
I was delighted to be selected to chose this new product as I'm always on the look out for new products - that WORK!
It was really easy to smooth onto my little ones bottom - for two reasons. The first was that it has a lovely creamy consistency - not too gloopy. Just smooth and easy to, well, spread! I don't like creams where you have to really work to apply them as they seem to cause more irritation. Secondly, this was easy to use as I didn't have to fumble with the lid. That was handy - I don't like touching things after doing nappies before I have washed my hands so the flip lid was a bonus. My daughter is teething and tends to get bad nappy rash from it - it bleeds when it gets really bad. I have been creating concoctions of multiple creams to treat it because a friend suggested it which was very hit and miss. I tried the Cicaplast Baume B5 on her little bottom for 7 days - I consistently used it at each nappy change and it worked like a dream. I also kept her bottom clean, washed and dry too to make sure there was nothing bad left behind which might hinder the cream working. I think I've made a step change with my daughters rash and haven't had a reappearance again since I use it each time. I know all kids are different but I believe that consistency of keeping her clean and the cream really worked for us. I don't believe creams just work over night. Like some of the other mums here, I also found it good for my hands and had a bad dry spot on my face which I found hard to shift with my normal moisturiser. I've been applying it there in that little spot for a few nights now and it's completely cleared up. I would recommend it - I haven't checked out the price though so like some of the other mums wonder if I can keep it up after my (nearly empty) tube has finished. Although for ease the pain of my little one when she has a rash, I'd pay anything. I also liked the little duck thermometer that you sent out too - that was a helpful and nice touch. Thanks mummypages - really enjoyed being involved in this.
1. I first heard of La Roche-Posay a little over a year ago when I was pregnant with my second child and having a lot of problems with my skin. While in my Mam's local pharmacy I asked for their advice as I had been told by a practice nurse to use baby products but the chemist said no and reccomended Hydreane. It is fantastic and I still use it.
2. I wasn't aware that it was reccommended by dermatoligists
3. I first used it on my 3 yr old in the morning and evening on her bottom lip as she had some irritation. Within two days it had cleard. the cream absorbed very quickly and wasn't greasy or sticky.
4. I loved that it was for sensetive skin as I always worry about using products on the girls
5. A few days ago the baby seemd to have an upset tummy resulting in very red nappy rash but after 2 applications the redness was gone, couldn't believe it as it was very sore looking. I used it on my knuckles as they are extremely dry and were cracked but they are getting better now after using the cream. The baby also has some dry patches on her skin so I used it on her after her bath last night and they are not as bad today and it was so easy to apply not like a thicker cream I have been using.
6. I did like the size of the tube but would like if there was a smaller tube, like 40mls, for popping in the nappy bag. I always like the La Roch-Posay packaging as it is simple and clear and easily recognised.
7. Wasn't aware that it was pharmacy only but I have never looked anywhere else for it. Always go back to the chemist for it.
8. As I said above the baby did get some nappy rash but it was eased after 2 applications
I heard and read a lot of great reviews of a roche posay products, this is my first time to try it. I'm really impressed with the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume 5 . I like the fact that it is paraben-free,fragrance-free,lanolin-free and white mark free(saves me from washing the white vests again:))
I used the cream mainly for my sons eczema,i have used benpanthen,e45,sudocrem and johnsons and johnsons cream but none works. I was really happy with the results,I will send Rachel a picture of the before and after results of my sons skin. I'm always worried about my sons skin eczema before because he really has rough skin thankfully i was able to try La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume 5. After only few days of using the cream my babys skin is really soft i'm really delighted with it.
I highly recommend this cream to all, its a versatile product. I will definitely purchased it again.
I like the the packaging of the product very handy to use and hold. Thank you very much again.
Finally I get round to leaving my reply. Have had a great experience over all with the product. Have been using La Roche Posay products for the last couple of months after being introduced to it by a friend. I would never have considered it prior to recommendation as the packaging never appealed.
The friend that recommended it to me told me it had been prescribed in Crumbin (I think) for her little one so I went straight out to purchase the anti itch cream for my little fella has his eczema flares up every now and again & I hated to see him scratching & waking up with it at night.
So I was delighted and( not disappointed ) when I was chosen for the trial. I used it both on his bum & spots where he'd have patches of eczema. After a serious of bad teething days his bum was nasty but the Cicaplast Baume B5 took care of all that. It calmed it right down and has kept it clear since. It helps with the patches of eczema too keeping it at bay. I suffered dry patches on my hands and while other creams often sting me this never did so it was reassuring when I applied it to his skin.
I like that the product is free from so many things especially fragrance free.
The packaging is great for bringing with me with I am on the go, and the flip lid means I'm not worried about where the top is now that everything goes in to the little fellas mouth. As i said previously though the wording on the packing was off outting to me prior to the introduction to the product. Before this I would bypass it in the chemists.
I have only just today recommended it to a friend and I'm replacing the trial tube as soon as I run out cause he's very happy in his nappy this weather!
Thanx for letting me take part, not sure I would have tried the product other wise and now there's no turning back!
Am delighted with it have used it for my sons eczema and found that it soothed his skin fairly quickly. Again could do with a bigger tube since I am using it all over his skin its running out fast. He has had no nappy rash since we started using. Like the look of the packaging too and the consistency is good and it does not leave any residue. The packing is good and the tube is easy to open no messing.
I definately have no hesitation in recommending it to others also I found it great to use on my own skin too.
As a mum of 6 kids I have had my fair share of treating nappy rash. I was delighted to be chosen as a tested of La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume. My youngest child is 5 1/2 and has Down Syndrome and is not toilet trained for the last year he has had severe nappy rash and I have tried every over the counter product and a lot of old remedies and nothing has helped clear the rash.
Every time we changed his nappy and he saw some cream or lotion being used he screamed and the first day I used the Baume more screaming but that was the last time as he is non verbal he couldn't tell us why but I soon learnt it wasn't cold on his skin it didn't sting and best of all his bottom is clear. Just like the day he was born.
We were very lucky to have our first family holiday in 6 years and spent a week in the sun when we came home my skin was a little dry so I started using a little of the Baume on my arms it was lovely non greasy and my skin is so soft but even better I still have a tan.
My daughter who suffers with eczema and uses steroid creams asked could she try the Baume on her face she loves it as it is so gentle and non greasy which is very important to a 12 year old girl.
We love the product and as our local chemist stocks La Roche it will be easy to purchase.
Very happy mum thank you for giving us this opportunity to try a great product it will be on my shopping list from now on.
P.S have already recommended it to the mums in the Down Syndrome group I co-run.
I was rather impressed by the cream! I have a 2 year old that is out of nappies in the daytime but wears them at night. He tends to get very sore. The cream was easy to rub in and also minimal effort was needed to get it out of the tube due to the lovely flip top on it! I put it on him going to bed and the next morning his bottom was completely free of any redness.
After a few days of using it and he had developed no redness I passed the cream onto my neighbour to try on their 14 month old. She has suffered with eczema since she was born and they have tried every cream under the sun. They were so impressed by how well it worked that they have finished the tube and bought another one! Her skin has cleared up a huge amount from how it was with any other cream. They also commented on the fact that its quit a light cream and really easy to rub in leaving no residue on clothes like other creams they had tried.
If I have any more children it is definately a product I will buy from birth. The only thing that I was unimpressed by and I know its the brand image but the box is very bland. I like knowing that if I walk down an aisle in a pharmacy that pink is caldease blue is morhulin etc without needing the time to read each boy. I was in a pharmacy the othe day with a full stand of La Roche Posay products and to be honest they all look the same and I'm not sure if I'd be that bothered to spend the time to search out the one I want especially with children in tow!
Ive used the La roche-posay brand before with great results. I found the brand while working my way through every cream/lotion/potion for exema when my 8 year old was a baby and it worked really well. More recently ive bought the sunblock after i had laser hair removal it was the brand the clinic reccomended.
I was delighted to be included in the Cicaplast Baume B5 trial. It was put to use as soon as i got it. My newborn came home from hospital with a red bum. I used the cream at every nappy change and the redness had gone within a few applications i was very impressed.
The fact the product is suitable for sensitive skin is a huge factor for me. Having gone through Excema with my daughter im very concious of what products i use this time.
I found the product very easy to use, and it absorbed quickly. I also used the product on my sons dry skin patches on his legs and i saw an improvement straight away.
La Roche-Posay products are sold in my local pharmacy and the staff know the product well as they can always point me in the direction of which product to use. I also like that they have samples so i can try product before buying.
Huge thumbs up from me and the Cicaplast Baume B5 will be a staple in my changing bag.
Thank you very much for letting me try the new Cicaplast Baume B5.
Its definetly the best product on the market for a wide range of skin conditions. I had used La Roche Posay Cleansers, Make up and sun cream and found them all great and because they are for sensitive skins is was a bonus. When i got my free trial of Cicaplast Baume i was delighted i had tried alot of different creams for my 1 year, he had a very bad rash on his face from dribbling (teething) sucking a dummy and been out in the cold so i needed a barrier cream and something to sooth the rash and thats exactly what it did i was very impressed. Cicaplast Baume absorbes into the skin straight away so that he couldnt rub it off, there was no messy residue all over his face and it left a barrier which was everything that i needed. Ive now gone on to using it on my other 2 boys they have dry skin, and found it to work brillant, noticed a different in their skin that following day. I found the size very handy for the changing bag, but would love if ye brought out a pump version this would be very handy for the changing table. ill definetly be into the pharmacy to buy some more. Thanks again for giving me the chance to use your excellent product.
Review Commentary:- I received the sample of Cicaplast Baume B5 on the 25th of January and began using straight away on my 16 month old daughter who suffers from severe eczema , particularly badly on her wrists and face (as we keep all other areas covered at all other times with long sleeved tops/vests , tights, sleepsuits etc to stop her constantly scratching).
We have attended a top paediatric dermatologist since my daughter was hospitalised with eczema at 3 months old through A&E. We have had limited success following her daily routine of Milton/Elave baths and Haldens base as an emollient with Cortisone use as neccessary when particularly severe. From the first application of the Cicaplast Baume B5, we noticed an immediate improvement when our daughter came home from creche that evening. We continued to use it twice daily and the scratching most definitely reduced too. The area most noticeable , was her face, which is always red and inflamed, and was now almost blemish free!! She also had a mild nappy rash and as we used it all over her body , this too improved.
I was so taken with the results that I started to use on my own face, which has inflamed patches of skin that no product or dermatologist has managed to sort for me since it began almost 4 years ago. I must admit that there was a lesser degree of success on my own face.
We have used products from La Roche Posay range for quite some time in this house, in particular, the Lipikar range for my daughter , and I am using the Toleraine Ultra as my own facial skincare regime. As we used the baume twice a day, all over her body and face, the product didn't last very long. I would estimate perhaps 7 days in total and then I frantically searched the chemists for a replacement tube to be told that they had not heard of it and they only had a small tube of cicaplast cream for the face which we bought but it has not been as effective on her face, indeed it has made no improvement and her skin has now returned to the condition in which it was before us using the sample product.
I loved the texture of the baume as it was almost like an emollient which suits her skin and seemed to retain the moisture. It was easy to apply and the tube was a great shape and it was easy to dispense the product as required with one hand while holding onto her on the changing unit.
In a nutshell, I will definitely buy this product when it launches, assuming that the cost will not be prohibitive. If there is anything further that I have not covered, or you wish to probe further, please do not hesitate to contact me
I was delighted to participate in the trial and am quite excited that I might finally have an answer to my prayer!! I had a baby last Sunday, and while I hope that she will not suffer from eczema, I am aware that it runs in families and hope to have an answer to it before it develops!!!
Many thanks again,
yummymummy

La Roche-Posay product trial feedback
15/02/2012 10:49
Hi MummyPages! I’ve used La Roche-Posay before and have always found their products great. One of my boys suffers from Exema so have always trusted La Roche-Posay to take care of his skin. I also have a baby girl who suffers from nappy rash so was delighted to try the new Cicaplast Baume B5. I used the cream at each of her nappy changes and the after a few applications, the redness disappeared…I was super impressed! I thought the flip cap is a great idea as it can be impossible to open a tub of cream while changing a baby’s nappy…especially when the said baby loves to wriggle all over the place! The balm also absorbed quickly and it actually made my hands really soft! Think I’ll also start using it as hand cream. Delighted with the product and will definitely be buying more of it. xxx
My 14 month old son suffers from eczema as well as mild nappy rash so I was really eager to try this product. I had heard of La Roche-Posay but had never tried it before so was really hopeful that it would make a difference. From the very first application of Cicaplast Baume B5 I saw a noticeable improvement. I used it on his eczema twice a day and then on his nappy rash at each nappy change and both the eczema and the nappy rash started to clear up the very first day I started using it. I loved that the baume is so easy to apply so I can hold the tube in one hand and my baby in the other…far less hassle than other nappy rash creams. The cream also absorbed quickly so there isn’t as messy as other products. Like lots of the mums here, I have also started using the baume as a hand cream! Might also give it a go on my face to see if it works well as a moisturiser…I have very very dry skin myself so hopefully it will improve! Thanks for letting me take part in the trial…I will definitely be buying this product again!
