Spring may be on the way but it certainly isn’t bringing any sunshine with it just yet. A Status Yellow snow and ice warning has been issued for the coming week.

Met Éireann has stated that severe conditions are forecasted for Tuesday with up to 3 cm of snow expected to fall.

Temperatures are set to fall to -4C overnight, with severe frost forecasted.

Road users have been advised to take extra care on the roads as treacherous conditions are expected on Monday and Tuesday morning. There is a risk of ice on untreated surfaces due to the severe drop in temperatures.

Parts of the country are already experiencing icy conditions on the roads, including Donegal, Galway and Roscommon.

The warning has been put in place in Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Tipperary and Waterford.

It is set to stay in place until 6 am on Tuesday, February 6.

Remember to give yourself extra time during the school run or when you’re travelling to work early this week.

Drive safe, mums!
