With so much bad news clogging up our timelines these days, it’s always refreshing to come across a story that reflects the very best in human nature, and the following is one such report.

A single mother and her quadriplegic daughter who lost everything in the recent Texas tornadoes have been welcomed into the home of a local millionaire.

Ron Sturgeon was shocked and saddened after hearing the devastating stories of death and destruction from the storms, and took to Facebook to offer up his two luxury mansions to four families.

Mr Sturgeon offered the families the chance to live rent-free in his home for three months, during which time they will also have full access to his cars.

After being inundated with requests, Mr Sturgeon and his assistant were faced with the tough task of selecting the new occupants, and they revealed this week that the first family will be the struggling mother, her ill daughter and their service dog.

The woman’s home and all of her and her daughter’s belongings were completely destroyed in the tornado, and Mr Sturgeon’s offer will no doubt prove life-changing for them at this current time.

Explaining the motivation behind his plan, Mr Sturgeon told local media: “I was moved by all the pictures of the lost, misplaced dogs, and I had not seen the pictures of all the devastation because I was out of the country…When I saw the news, I realised that I’m so blessed to have these two huge homes sitting vacant — one of them is completely furnished. And I wanted to do something.”
