Christmas is a time to show your love and appreciation for your family and friends, but often this can get lost in our preoccupation with presents.

If there’s one thing that’s guaranteed to put the festive season back into perspective for you, it’s this little boy’s heartwrenching letter to Santa.

In the letter, the boy asks to have his mum ‘back alive for Christmas’ as well as “some more food”.

It was a WBTV viewer who discovered the letter and sent it in to the news station, hoping that it would grab the attention of family, guardians or school teachers of the child.

The man in question, Christian Wilson, reportedly told the station: “No child should have to ask Santa for food.”

It is not yet known who the boy’s mother is, or if she is alive, but management at the station has taken strides to help the boy out with his second request.

After being contacted by the station, authorities around North Carolina are now accepting donations for the little boy in a bid to ensure that he does not go hungry this season.

It’s a message that has been sent out many times before, but it bears repeating: remember to think of those less fortunate, or those who may be struggling this Christmas, and always appreciate how lucky you truly are.
