A little girl has sparked a worldwide movement, after simply asking for Christmas cards from strangers around the world.
Little Safyre was involved in a tragic fire at the age of five, and lost her father and three siblings in the incident. She was also left with burns to 75% of her body and has been through several procedures for treatment.
An Imgur user took to the social networking site this week to share Safyre’s story, and to appeal for anyone touched by her journey to grant her Christmas wish: to fill her Christmas card tree with cards from around the world.
“She wants to fill up her card tree. Please take a few minutes and send a Christmas card her way, she will love receiving cards from all over the world,” the user wrote.
The story has touched hearts in every corner of the world, with a unique hashtag ‘CardsforSafyre’ trending on social media. Cards from as far away as Australia, South Korea and Thailand have also been popped in the mail and are on their way to the brave little girl’s home.
