Seeing your child's face light up with delight upon your return home or arrival to the school gates can do much to restore a flagging equilibrium.

With that in mind, we can only imagine how Daniel Oglesby felt when his three-year-old daughter interrupted a military homecoming ceremony in order to embrace her beloved dad who had been serving in Kuwait for the past eight months.

Karis, whose parents were concerned their little girl would have little memory of her father, realised their fears had no grounding in reality when she identified him in a line-up and felt compelled to throw her arms around him.

Having made her feelings for her father known, the adorable Karis quickly made her way back to her mother in a move that was captured in heartwarming footage and subsequently shared online.

Commenting on his little girl's outpouring of emotion, First Lieutenant and father-of-two, Daniel, said:”That moment was about the family, so I figured I'd greet her, give her a kiss on the head, and then tell her I'd meet up with her momentarily after we were done with the presentation.”

Reflecting on his and other family's situations, Daniel said: “When they finally see them, there aren't many people who will stand in their way of seeing their parents, and it definitely wasn't going to be me.”

Daniel, who is also dad to four-year-old Layla, cherished the heartwarming moment, telling Today: "Having that reunion, it doesn't make up for the lost time, but it's definitely a sweet moment to finally be able to see them and embrace them again.”

Check out this family's incredibly tender moment.
