We’ve had our fair share of beauty mishaps down through the years but none of ours could rival that of myopic mum Judy Robbins.

Judy was attempting to apply fake eyelashes which we all know is an onerous task. First you have to trim the lashes, carefully apply the right amount of eyelash glue and use a tweezers to get it into place.

It’s a task that requires practice, patience and good eyesight. Unfortunately for Judy, she had to take off her glasses to apply the lashes and that’s where things started to go wrong.

No matter how she tried, she couldn’t get the eyelash to stick to her eye. The reason why? The “eyelash” she was attempting to apply was actually a dead fly – gross!

Judy’s daughter Molly shared a photo of her beauty disaster online, with the offending fly corpse alongside a cluster of individual lashes.

She wrote: “Text from mum - having trouble sticking lashes on without her glasses... turns out she was trying to glue a dead fly to her eyelid. I'm out”.

Yikes – poor Judy, she must have felt quite sick when she realised her mistake!

Molly’s tweet soon went viral with over 60,000 likes and over 20,000 retweets. While some questioned the likelihood of such a mix-up occurring, Judy’s sister Kate confirmed that it really did happen.

The news turned the stomachs of many with one Twitter user responding: “I almost threw up reading this”.

Others couldn’t resist a good pun, with another user writing: “I'm sure her lashes would've been quite the buzz. I'll let myself out”.

“Should’ve went to Specsavers,” another responded.

Fake eyelash brand Eylure even got in on the action, tweeting: “When your lashes are looking QUITE LITERALLY fly! We can't quite believe this!”

Poor Judy, we hope she gets someone else to apply her lashes for her in the future!
