No one enjoys reprimanding a child, but as parents we all know it's necessary in order to enforce rules and protect our children from danger. But does this approach to the younger generation extend to children who aren't under our care or even known to us?
One member of the public, who opened up about her compulsion to chastise children who she feels are behaving badly, has come in for considerable backlash following a recent apperance on longrunning ITV show This Morning.
Having recalled numerous incidents where she stepped in and voiced concern or irritation over a child's conduct in public, Sally Jones soon found herself the subject of intense criticism online, with social media users taking to Twitter in their droves in order to comment on Sally's interview.
From reprimanding teens who littered to chastising children who kicked her seat in the theatre, Sally admitted that her approach often leaves her vulnerable to fellow parents who are infuriated by her attitude to their children.
Recalling the moment she approach a teen who discarded rubbish from a car, she revealed: “'You should have heard the language - they and the parents went berserk. My own child said “you must be mad, there could have been knives and guns.'”
Unsurprisingly, members of the public did not hold back when expressing their opinion on Sally's appearance, with one writing: "As much as it would be hard not to say anything, it's none of our business at the end of the day."
Reminding Sally that extenuating circumstance often play a role in a child's behaviour, another Twitter user wrote: "This is shocking! My son is autistic and regularly has meltdowns like this. THINK BEFORE YOU JUDGE."
Responding to the criticism, Sally took to her own social media channels, writing: "Just getting outraged comments on @itvthismorning for saying I'm willing to discipline other people's children - and do. When do I get nutted?"
