While most of us don’t want to think about Christmas until December, it’s hard not to get sucked in when the shops are decorated in tinsel, trees and Santa statues.

However, it might be easier for those who shop in The Roosevelt Field Mal which has ditched traditional decorations in favour of something a little more muted.

The mall in Long Island has placed Santa in what they call a winter-themed glacier, although shoppers think it looks more out of this world than festive.

“Santa comes along with a decorated tree; he doesn’t come with a spaceship,” Maria Lovdahl, a mum-of-two who was confused by the set-up, told The New York Post.

According to Maria, the mall moved away from the more typical winter scene because people said they were offended by the displays used in previous years.

After listening to the feedback, management were quick to make a few changes and put up three small trees with lights - a large Christmas tree would apparently be arriving in a couple of weeks.

“Key elements are still being added to the Glacier experience at Roosevelt Field over the coming week — and after hearing early customer feedback, one of those elements will be a traditional Christmas tree alongside the Glacier experience,” the mall said.

However, according to the publication, Santa's helpers were still just regular people wearing red ties with snowflakes.
