In light of the number of unsolved or tragic missing child cases that reach our timelines each day, it’s important to acknowledge those that the authorities manage to solve.

An Ohio family’s prayers were answered this week, after police located their 15-year-old daughter reported missing 23 days ago.

Authorities today confirmed that they have found Alexis Boroviak, who disappeared after going outside of her own house to take her dog for a walk.

The teen was reportedly found in a house 500 miles away, where she was being held against her will by 41-year-old Chris Schroeder.

According to reports, Schroeder met Alexis on the social media app Kik, where she told him that she was unhappy at home.

Schroeder and Alexis agreed to meet, with the 41-year-old then driving nine hours back to his home with her.

It is believed that Schroeder made Alexis clean his house, destroyed her phone and SIM card, and asked her to lose weight for him. When Alexis said that she wanted to go home, Schroeder prohibited her from doing so.

Local police worked with a special task force to locate Alexis, and she has now been reunited with her family. Schroeder has been arrested and is facing both federal and state charges.

Alexis’ mother, Linda Chalfont, has since spoken out to thank all those who took part in the search for Alexis.
