Anyone who has been in the situation will know that managing a child and standing on public transport often just don’t go together, so you will no doubt be able to sympathise with the woman in this report.

Celine Chia was travelling on a train in Singapore this week when she spotted a ‘struggling’ mum standing, with her baby son strapped to her chest.

When Celine copped sight of a man napping in his seat, she decided to approach him and politely ask if he wouldn’t mind giving up his seat for this mum and her child. While she was expecting him to do the right thing and move, his response absolutely shocked her.

The man was said to have been particularly cold as he told Celine: “It’s my choice and I am NOT giving up my seat to her…I’m tired after work.”

Celine took to Facebook to name and shame the man, documenting the full details of their exchange in a now viral post.

“I never once slammed anyone in public before but today, I really mean it when I tell you that you need to lose your weight, and your tiredness is a result of your obesity, not an EXCUSE FOR REFUSING TO GIVE UP YOUR SEAT TO THE MOTHER & CHILD!” wrote an irate Celine.

While the mum in question found Celine’s post and thanked her for standing up for her, the man from the train also found the post – and defended his position.

“Personally, I have not been well, and tired. In fact recently, I have been feeling my heart conditions again…People do not have X-ray eyes. I will just let it go. People have different opinions,” he responded.
