A man knocked down two pedestrians in Ramersdorf, near Munich, yesterday evening during an attempted kidnapping.

He was driving his former partner's stolen car, with her four children inside, when the incident occurred, according to The Mail Online.

Both pedestrians were seriously injured, but the children - aged 5 months to 14 - escaped harm.

It's believed a violent altercation took place between the man and his ex-partner beforehand.

While the woman sought refuge with a neighbour, the angry man then grabbed her car keys, bundled her children in the car, and drove away.

He later panicked, lost control of the car and hit two young men, Süddeutsche Zeitung reports.

The 29-year-old man fled the scene on foot and is being hunted by police. He is not believed to be the father of the children.
