With so many sad stories involving little ones filling up our newsfeeds on a daily basis, it’s a relief to find out that tragedy was averted in the following report.

A 14-month-old child in Brazil has walked away from a fall from a second-floor window with a bruised forehead and a handful of scrapes.

By-standers were left fearing the worst when they witnessed little Helena Beatrice Nacimento fall from the window and land face-down on the pavement in front of an apartment building. According to reports, the tot was sleeping in her parent’s room at their apartment, right beside a window without bars, before the incident occurred.

CCTV footage which captured the terrifying incident showed Helena fall to the ground and lie still for a number of seconds. She then raised her head and pulled herself up, although she looked shaky and dazed from the fall.

At this point, a member of the public is seen rushing over to check that the tot is okay, with others following right behind. Helena’s mother then reached the scene and picked up her daughter.

Witnesses say that little Helena was brought to hospital for a check-up, and was released shortly after with minor scrapes and a bruised forehead.

It is believed that Helena’s fall was broken by overhead telephone wires, which are said to have slowed down her descent.

Helena’s grandmother hailed the tot’s survival as a ‘miracle’, sharing her belief that ‘an angel’ saved her.
