A baby has been hailed as a ‘miracle’ after starting to breathe on his own – 22 minutes after doctors had announced that he was stillborn.
Same-sex couple Abbie and Laura Tomkins were left devastated when the news was first delivered, with 24-year-old Abbie telling media that she ‘couldn’t hear anything’ from their newborn son, Jacob.
However, in a truly miraculous turn of events, little Jacob began to breathe almost half an hour later.
“It was a miracle, but they then rushed him to Guy’s hospital in London. Laura had to stay where she was and I went with Jacob,” recalled Abbie.
Amazingly, the 6lb 10oz tot pulled through, and the little fighter is now settling in at his London home with his adoring mothers.
It has since emerged that the couple spent £10,000 on treatments to get pregnant with their beautiful son.
Commenting on life with their little one, 21-year-old Abbie said: “We love him with all our hearts. He’s just perfect.”
